A high-tension (HT) smart meter was installed at APSPDCL’s corporate office in Tirupati, while a low-tension (LT) smart meter was set up at the Mandal Educational Officer’s office in Railway Kodur, Annamayya district.
Tirupati-based Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) became the first of the three Discoms to install the state’s inaugural smart meters in both the High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) categories.
The high-tension (HT) smart meter was installed at APSPDCL’s corporate office, making the service provider its own first customer. Similarly, the low-tension (LT) meter was recently installed at the Mandal Educational Officer’s (MEO) office in Railway Kodur, Annamayya district.
“Both meters are functioning well and their performance meets our expectations,” said APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director K. Santhosh Rao. Reflecting the State government’s commitment, the Discom is preparing to install smart meters in all government offices, he added.
The installation of these smart meters will enable consumers to monitor their consumption patterns in advance, use energy more wisely, and prevent wastage.
